Rude awakening

After a good day yesterday when I excelled at tennis I was brought back to earth with a bump today.  I was chatting to an old guy at the tennis club I mentioned yesterday.  Not only do I get a shower  there but they have free wifi so I spend a fair amount of time picking up emails and so on in their reception area.  This old guy, who used to work as a lawyer for the Estonian police during the Soviet era, had been playing tennis and was ‘recovering’ with an energy drink from the drink dispenser.  The nice old fella was pretty worn out but on top of the world; he’d too had a good game.  But he was complaining how hard it was to get about the court these days and how he lived on the second floor of an apartment block and had to climb the stairs each day.  I felt sorry for him.  He was a really nice guy.  Then he mentioned his age.  The ‘old guy’ was younger than me!  Bloody rude awakening!

I've decided to head for Riga.  I've been waiting two weeks for a quote from a guy who does winter layups in Tallinn.  Two weeks!  And I'm offering to pay him hundreds of euros to park my boat on a bit of waste ground for a few months.  If he really can't be bothered then I'll go elsewhere.  I know I can layup in Riga.  I got a quote whilst I was there last week.  The journey to Riga is quite a demanding one.  5-6 long day sails IF the wind is in the right direction.  At the moment it's blowing a hooley in the WRONG direction, so I'm stuck here in Tallinn for a few days yet.
